The story of Lothian Vineyards began with Wilson Family’s search for the perfect location. The Wilsons had already been involved in grape growing and wine making for the last three generations and all that experience culminated in selecting Somersfontein, a picturesque farm on the Palmiet River in Elgin.

They planted Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, all ideally suited for a cool climate created by mountain shadows, south facing slopes and sea breezes. Their philosophy is simple, to be as non-interventionist as possible. This allows their winemaking efforts to extract true flavours of the grape and to allow the fruit to express itself.

The attention to detail and commitment to create wines with integrity is apparent in the wines produced by this Elgin wine farm. The farm itself offers a guesthouse and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and river. Boucheron Wines is their exclusive distributor in Gauteng. Be sure to watch the video above.
