The Storr Room has launched a fantastic new collection of premium, bespoke furniture and will be displaying the pieces in an exhibition with a few of SA’s top creatives from 23rd to 31st October 2014.

Following two successful exhibitions in the last five years (including a collaboration with acclaimed local fashion designer, David Thlale), The Storr Room’s latest collection is a refined exploration of master craftsmanship with attention to detail, all with a 100% South African stamp.

The limited edition furniture pieces have been honed to perfection. Chief designer and owner of The Storr Room, Charles Storr explains his intention behind the work: “the final pieces must outlive their owners and continue well into the future as works of practical art; and, just like art, our pieces generate excitement and conversation to stand the test of time.” The collection includes a variety of tables, bureaus and cabinets in wood, metal and glass.

In addition to furniture by The Storr Room, the exhibition will also feature arresting works by acclaimed photographers Ivan Leathers and Charles Johnstone; limited edition pieces by artisan ceramicists Marina Walsh, Michelle Legg, Carol Slabolepszy and Sue Frame; and local artists Lisa van Schaik and Karen Tearnan will both exhibit fine paintings.

Boucheron Wines has sponsored a selection of delicious vintages that perfectly accompany the fine collection and during the week there will be a chocolate and coffee pairing with Jaco de Witt of Roast Re:Public, as well as some other exciting mini-events.

EXHIBITION OPENING: Thursday 23rd October,  7:30pm, 30 11th Avenue Houghton. Monday to Wednesday 2pm – 7pm; Thursdays 12pm-7pm; Friday to Sunday 10am- pm. Exhibition runs until the 31st  October.
