Waterkloof Wines is a modern cellar perched high on the Schapenberg kloof, just outside the beautiful coastal town of Somerset West, overlooking False Bay. This landscape allows the team to create European style wines that offer exceptional quality and finesse. The farming methods include the use of horses rather than tractors and ducks rather than pesticides. The idea is to work with nature to produce wines that speak of their own sense of place, with minimal intervention and maximum care.
All fruit is hand-picked and handsorted. Following this careful selection, their red and white grapes are handled differently but treated with the same values. They monitor and do not dictate. The Peacock Range allows Waterkloof to take advantage of a wealth of surrounding vineyards, individually suited to produce wines that offer uncompromising quality with exceptional value for money. These wines showcase the delicate version of each varietal.
Nadia grew up in the well-known region of Stellenbosch with its omnipresent vineyards. It was here where Nadia experienced the wine culture and lifestyle surrounding the town from a very young age. Her dreams became reality when she became a qualified winemaker, completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, specialising in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Stellenbosch. Her journey would first take her to smally family run wineries in Australia, New Zealand and France before destiny would bring her to Waterkloof for their maiden vintage in 2009.
